LIVE: Real Sociedad vs Barcelona
Barcelona had no high stakes to play for but still extended their winning streak at Inter Milan (1-2) on Tuesday, keeping hold of the top spot in Champions League Group F and sending the Italian rivals to Europa League knockout stages. They now travel to Donostia-San Sebastian hoping to build on such consistency and keep hold of the top spot in La Liga.
Blaugrana have beaten Atletico Madrid (0-1) and Mallorca (5-2) in two exciting games beforehand and certainly get ground to build on, despite more struggles to turn clashes their way when away from home. Ernesto Valverde rested Leo Messi, Busquets, ter Stegen, while Frenkie de Jong and Luis Suarez got just under 30 minutes of play midway through the week, and he will now hope for a well-rested outfit.
Real Sociedad have struggled for such consistency but still sit 4th after 16 games played and they’ll have high hopes for an upset here. They failed to connect any two same results since wins over Betis (3-1) and Celta Vigo (0-1) back in October and this will be more worrying for Imanol Alguacil.
La Real only snatched a point in a goalless draw at troubled Valladolid last week and while we have seen them scoring goals quite regularly in front of the home fans, they could need more than that to overcome the Saturday’s challenge with Barcelona in red-hot form and very motivated to build on it.
We do see the visitors doing so and we feel that backing Barcelona to win at 7/10 with William Hill comes as great value despite their struggles to really impress on the road regularly. They have been scoring numbers of goals lately and we do see them doing the same now.
Still, Real Sociedad will be no sitting ducks and we feel Blaugrana will have to outgun them if they’re to snatch the spoils. We’re thus also going for a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 6/10 with William Hill with the home side’s great goalscoring record at this ground.
