Utah Jazz at Memphis Grizzlies
FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee

This Friday, there is a matchup between two Western Conference teams in the NBA as the Utah Jazz and the Memphis Grizzlies will face off at about 8:00 PM. This will be the second meeting between these teams this season and it will take place at the FedExForum.

Jazz Look To Get Back To Their Winning Ways

So far this season, the Utah Jazz have looked like a pretty good team in the Western Conference. Utah finally started to look like the team that experts thought that it would become but then all optimism quickly went south after these past two games. The Jazz also enter this game on a bit of a low note as they are on a two-game losing streak including a 19 point road loss to the Pacers in their last game. Now, the Jazz will look to get back to their winning ways against one of the weakest teams in the Western Conference on Friday.

Leading the Jazz offensively is guardDonovan Mitchell who has looked great so far this season. He is leading his team with 25.6 points per game along with 5.1 rebounds. He has also scored at least 20 points in each of his last five games so he will look to extend that streak on Friday against one of the worst defenses in the league.

Utah’s most underrated player is small forwardBojan Bogdanovicwho has been unbelievable so far this season. He is currently averaging 21.5 points per game which is the second-most on the roster. In addition, he has also scored at least 24 points in each of his last three games so he has been in quite the rhythm offensively as of late. Now, he will look to continue shooting the lights out in Memphis.

Grizzlies Continue To Show Fight

So far this season, the Memphis Grizzlies have been a below-average team in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies have lost 12 of their first 17 games and they are in the midst of a five-game losing streak. However, Memphis has been extremely competitive despite not getting the results to show for it. The Grizzlies lost to the Clippers and the Lakers by a combined three points in their last two home games so this team is not as bad as the standings might indicate. Now, Memphis will look to continue playing well at home as it hopes to finally do enough to actually win this game.

Leading the Grizzlies offensively is point guardJa Morant who has looked good so far this season. He is averaging a team-high 19.1 points per game along with 6.6 assists. The transition to the pros has been extremely easy for Morant up to this point and he is the favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year as a result.

Memphis’ most underrated player is centerJonas Valanciunas who has been extremely solid in this season. He is averaging 13.1 points per game along with a team-high 9.4 rebounds in just 24.2 minutes per game. In addition, Valanciunas also enters this game following a tremendous performance on Wednesday in which he scored 30 points while also recording 16 rebounds.

The Grizzlies might be on a losing streak but they have been very competitive at home this season. They have lost their last two home games to the Clippers and Lakers by a combined three points so I think that this spread is a bit too generous. The Grizzlies have length on the interior which could give the Jazz some issues and I think that they will be able to keep this game extremely close throughout. Give me the home team.

Prediction: Memphis +7

Both of these teams have been struggling lately on defense so I think that this total is too low. Utah has given up at least 120 points in each of its last three games while Memphis has given up at least 121 points in each of its last two games so neither of them are in impressive form defensively. Plus, these teams have already played each other once so I can see both coaches making adjustments on offense that should result in more points. Give me the over.

Prediction: Over 219.5
